Downtown Seymour Fire!

Well, we had an exciting night in our little town last night! One of the old buildings downtown caught fire...a children's "high end" clothing store. Now, the buildings down there are old and attached and the wind was blowing...not hard, but enough to fan the flames. So, the fire jumped from one building to another to another to another. My daughter, Jen, called around 11:30 PM and said, "Mom,are you downtown" and I almost said, "Why,is it on fire?"! Yikes....that actually went through my mind. But, I decided it was silly and just said "why?" and she said, "It's on fire!". So of course I had to run down there (only a few blocks from my house) and check it out. Watched it until 2 AM and finally got too tired. Kudos to the firemen. They may not see much excitement like this in this small town, but they truly did "put their lives on the line". No one was injured and I'm thankful for that. Turns out two buildings were totally destroyed and 2 or 3 substained substantial damage.

And then as if that wasn't enough excitement, we woke up to horrible storms around
5 AM and we got like 5" of rain in an hour and a half! Yikes! We're close to Louisville, KY, so you may have heard of the flooding there today! And it just could not stop raining all day! What a wet, cold, nasty day! We have had no summer in Indiana this year! And now it's coming to an end and school is about to begin!

Tonight is....quiet....so far! :=)
